Landevennec

An authentic village: "It is a very gentle, very pleasant place, the first in the country to see the flowers open each year, the last to see the leaves fall," wrote a 9th-century historian...

Landévennec, nestled at the end of the Brest harbor, on the last bend of the Aulne river, is a picturesque landscape that inspires poetry. Everything is there: woods, mountains (Ménez-Hom), the river, and the sea.

The port of Landévennec consists of only a simple slipway, located on the beach known as Port-Maria, near the point of Landévennec, on the left bank of the Aulne estuary.

The Belvédère

From the viewpoint or during a leisurely stroll, discover this unusual site, a true historical landmark nestled in a bend of the Aulne River.

Since the 17th century, Landévennec has been coveted by the French Navy. Given the heavy traffic at the port of Brest, they wanted to create a reserve port. These projects never came to fruition. Only the period from 1870 to 1935 saw a significant naval presence. Since 2007, the site has revived the memory of the former naval station, when Landévennec housed reserve Navy vessels.

A rich maritime heritage

The history of the people of the Crozon Peninsula is inextricably linked to the use and exploitation of the sea. The ports of Camaret-sur-Mer and Morgat bear witness to this cultural heritage.
The seaside architecture of Morgat and the shipbuilding yards of Camaret constitute a maritime legacy whose richness is internationally recognized.

A seaside promenade inherited from the 19th century
The former fishing village of Morgat became a seaside resort at the end of the 19th century, thanks to the impetus of Armand Peugeot. Today, along the Boulevard de la Plage, one can admire the villas characteristic of the work of architect Gaston Chabal. They continue to define the overall atmosphere of the resort; the surrounding parks and gardens contain numerous shrub species, creating a striking green oasis.
